Privacy

Last updated October 17, 2026.

This policy covers marindata.ai, run by Marin Data ("we"). It explains what we collect through this site and what we do with it. The short version is on How we handle your information.

What we collect

  • What you type into our forms. Estimate answers (industry, company size, years of records, tools used), your name, work email, company name, job title, whether the records are yours to license, company state, phone number if you give one, and who referred you. With the form we also receive the first page you opened on our site and the website that linked you to it.
  • Partner introductions. If a lawyer, accountant or investor introduces a company, the names and contact details they send us.
  • Site usage. Our analytics provider, PostHog, records the pages you visit, the buttons and links you click, how far you scroll, your estimate answers, the device and browser type, and roughly where the visit came from, including any campaign or referral link. We never send it your name, email or phone number, and we don't record your screen. We don't use advertising trackers.

We never ask for your company's records through this site, and we don't accept files here.

How we use it

  • To show you an estimate and arrange the call you asked for.
  • To answer your questions and, if you become a client, to run the engagement.
  • To pay referral partners what we owe them.
  • To understand how the site is used and improve it.
  • To meet legal obligations.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers that host this site, run our email and provide analytics (PostHog), only to do that work for us.
  • AI labs, only when you ask us to, and only under a signed NDA.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it.

Cookies, local storage and opting out

Our analytics provider, PostHog, runs in cookieless mode: it sets no cookies and stores no ID in your browser. To count visits, it uses a one-way hash of your IP address and browser details that changes every day and can't be traced back to you. We use your browser's local storage to keep your estimate answers, so you don't have to type them again, and to remember which version of a page you saw when we test different wording.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, our analytics doesn't load and nothing about your visit is recorded. When we detect Global Privacy Control, the site footer shows "Opt-out request honored". You can also clear or block cookies and local storage for this site in your browser settings.

Do not sell or share

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

How long we keep it

Estimate requests and other enquiries: 12 months after our last contact with you. Signed agreements: for as long as legal claims about them can be brought. Records of consent: for as long as we work together, plus two years. You can ask us to delete your information sooner.

Your rights

Depending on your state, including California under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct it;
  • delete it;
  • stop using sensitive information beyond what is needed.

Email [email protected]. We'll confirm who you are before acting and reply within 45 days. You can use an authorized agent. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.

Security

We limit access to the people who need it and use reasonable safeguards. No system is perfectly secure.

Children

This site is for businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For material changes, we'll say so on this page.
