Questions owners ask us
Why would an AI lab want our records?
Labs have already trained on most of the public web. To teach models how work gets done, they now license records of it: email threads, tickets, closes, matter files, code review. On Oct 9, 2026, micro1 committed $1B over 12 months to licensing this kind of record (micro1). Buyers remove personal details before training; what they use is the order in which decisions were made.
What is our data realistically worth?
AI labs' published price tiers run from about $100K a year for a standard workflow to $1M+ for specialized operations (micro1 tiers via aitrainer.work, Jun 29, 2026). Small companies sit lower: a crypto startup received about $25K for its codebase (MIT Technology Review, Oct 13, 2026). The estimate on this site gives a range for companies like yours.
Who sees our raw data?
Only a buyer you approve, and only after you sign a mutual NDA. That buyer connects read-only to the systems you choose, removes personal data and reviews a sample. Marin Data never takes possession of client records, and you can require deletion at any point.
What can't be sold?
Anything that identifies a person, customer lists, HR and health records, data you cannot show you own, and archives with unresolved employee-consent questions. Buyers reject these too. Records that belong to your clients, such as a law firm's matter files, need a separate rights check first.
How long does it take?
Most AI labs decide within a week of seeing a sample, and pay 30 to 90 days after you sign. You take as long as you need to decide.
What does it cost us?
Nothing up front, and nothing at all if no deal closes. Marin Data is paid by the AI lab, never out of your payment.
Are you working for us or for the buyer?
For you. We take your company to the AI labs that fit, review every offer and negotiate on your behalf, and you choose which lab to sign with. Marin Data is not an agent of any AI lab.
